After months spent bundled up in hats, scarves, and turtlenecks, we’re so happy the warmer weather has finally arrived. With the rise in temperatures comes a whole lot of wardrobe changes—yep, it’s time to dust off your flip flops, tank tops, and flowy dresses. The same goes for your skincare products –summer is the time to give up heavy products and go for the versions that are lighter on the skin.
SUMMER SKIN CARE PRODUCT #1: CLAY CLEANSER
Cleansing your complexion should be the first step in your skin care routine. This summer, why not switch things up by trying a super-cool kind of cleanser? We’re talking about clay cleansers! These are clay-to-mousse daily cleansers that help leave skin looking perfectly clear. They’re formulated to seamlessly transform from clay to mousse and remove everyday impurities (think: dirt, oil, and pollution) without over-drying.
To use a clay cleanser, squeeze the product into your hands and add water to transform it from clay to mousse. Gently massage the cleanser onto your face using circular motions, avoiding your eye area. Rinse thoroughly and pat dry.
SUMMER SKIN CARE PRODUCT #2: MICELLAR WATER
Have a few summer vacations planned? Pack travel-friendly skin care products—such as micellar water—with you. Micellar water is a no-rinse cleansing option that is powered by tiny micelles—oil molecules—that act as a magnet to lift dirt, oil, and makeup up and away from the skin. Since there’s no rinsing required, you can toss micellar water in your purse and cleanse on the go. Use it before a flight to help refresh your complexion, after a workout to wipe away excess oil and sweat, before bed to remove makeup, or any other time you feel the need. Just remember to also pack some cotton rounds in your bag as well!
SUMMER SKIN CARE PRODUCT #3: WATER-BASED MOISTURIZER
You may not feel the need to use quite as rich a moisturizer in the summer as you did in the winter. That being said, skin hydration is important—so you shouldn’t skip out on this step in your routine. This time of year, consider using a water-based moisturizer.
